After a long day on the course, working in the yard or frequent wearing,  your caps can get downright dirty, stinky and even stained. We’ll share our favorite way to clean your baseball caps.  Many debate on using a standard washing machine or a dishwasher. We’ve done both and prefer the dishwasher method since the hats shape is less compromised.  (Since water pressure and detergent vary by individual differences you may want to try this with an old cap you have lying around).

Follow these steps to learn how to wash your baseball cap in the dishwasher:

1.) Check the cap to ensure it is sturdy enough to withstand a washing cycle.  To do this simply look check that the stitching is in tact, especially where the headband meets the brim.  Avoid putting any wool hats in the wash.  Most of the hats we sell are cotton or a polyester blend which will be fine in the dishwasher. Check the manufacturers tag for care recommendations.

2.) Check for any stains prior.  Pretreat stains with a fabric safe spot removal before running through the wash cycle.

3.) Load your cap on the top rack of your dishwasher, as seen in this photograph. (Note: you can purchase Dishwasher hat shapers online in places like Amazon. While we don’t feel this step is needed, it won’t hurt.)

4.) Run through a regular wash and rinse cycle with your dish washing detergent.

5.) Do not place in the dryer! Air dry for best results. The dryer will shrink lose its shape. For best results prop the cap on a large coffee can or hang with a clothespin so it can dry inside and out.
